A Review of the Micralite Fastfold Superlite Umbrella Stroller

The Micralite Fastfold Superlite Umbrella Stroller was originally launched at the All Baby & Children’s Product Expo in Las Vegas USA in September 2009. We decided to try one out and we at umbrellastrollerguide.com have to say that it was quite interesting trying it out! We were amazed and overwhelmed by a lot of sides of this model and truthfully it wasn’t at all what we first thought it would be – this super-lightweight unit definitely isn’t a standard umbrella stroller!

Assembly was quite simple as well as straight-forward. We adjusted the air pressure in the big tires beforehand (a pump is included if one does not have an air compressor), popped on smaller front wheels, the protective sun-canopy and we were ready to go. It was that simple.

Mom’s final verdict…

The very first feature that struck us right away was the oversized wheels. A parent basically cannot find bigger air-filled back tires on a lightweight baby stroller. It is unheard of. Due to this great addition to the light-weight, this particular stroller has made perhaps the best umbrella stroller which functions on many different terrains and also makes pushing the little rascal a breeze. It’s much like Maclaren Volo, but with much bigger rear tires and a more durable structure.

The six inch swivel front wheels are a bit bigger when compared to most umbrella strollers and provide amazing handling in tight places such as narrow store aisles, while the twelve inches back pneumatic tires absorb jarring as well as small bumps with ease, keeping the child comfy while strolling along.

As one can notice, the one of a kind design itself is truly awesome! The intelligent sliding seat unit allows for a complete flat recline for ultimate comfort for sleeping infants or a full upright position for those toddlers who want to enjoy the view. The breathable mesh hammock style seat will keep little rascals cool, dry as well as comfy throughout long warm summer months. The safety five-point restraint system will keep kids secure as well as snug. Best of all, it isn’t prone to tangling.

We liked the height-adjustable handles. The unique design is more “square” when compared to a traditional stroller. On the other hand, strangely, this seems to assists with handling and even a four year-old will be able to push this on rough and uneven terrain quite simple – without any hassle. To adjust, one just unlocks the fast-release levers prior to raising the “bull horn” style bars from thirty seven inches to forty five inches.

The bar between the wheels is basically a locking mechanism. One pushes down to lock and lifts it up in order to release the hold. Closing is very easy and can be done with only one hand (a true lifesaver especially if watching a jogger and hanging on to the little rascal).

Weighing in at around fourteen pounds, this model is just perfect for taking on short or airplane trips. In case a family is going to the local park or any other place that requires a lot of walking, this umbrella stroller is a great, durable light-weight that can not be beat. It’s made to last for years!
